7 time All-Star Alfonso Soriano decided he wanted to hang up the cleats after 16 seasons.
He finishes 50th all time in home runs with 412, and was a key player in most of the Yankees success when they won their titles.
Being known for his extremely long lengthened bat, he is well respected and will be missed in baseball.
It was supposed to be a storybook night for the Cavs. Rather, it ended as a season opening loss as they got beat by the Knicks 95-90.
The savior of Cleveland, the chalk toss, number 23 they were all back last night for the Cavs. They welcomed newcomer Kevin Love. The beginning of what is supposed to be greatness started with a loss. LeBron got off to a very poor start and ended with a less than good stat line going 5-15 from the field for 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 turnovers. Yep, you read that right, 8 turnovers! The Cavaliers were outscored by 13 with LeBron on the court and outscored the Knicks by 8 with him off.
I was honestly more excited to see Kevin Love and while his number didn’t jump off the page, he played well. Love finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds, duh, he’s Mr. Double-Double. He also made a couple phenomenal full court passes which led to tallying 4 assists.
Carmelo poured in 25 points to lead the Knicks. Including a fade-away jumper with 10 seconds left and Lebron in his face to seal the win. In the end, it’s an 82 game season and this is only one loss. No need to worry Cleveland fans, you’re going to make the playoffs.

The Saints are known for being very good at home and the exact opposite on the road. Prior to last night they had lost their last 7 road games. They broke that skid with a 28-10 win over the Panthers in Charlotte.
The Saints really dominated the game all around. They had a 14-0 lead at halftime behind Jimmy Graham and Mark Ingram touchdowns. The Panthers cut the lead in half on a Cam Newton touchdown run and that was the lone bright spot. Drew Brees scored on a QB sneak and Ingram scored his second TD of the night in the 4th.
Ingram continues to play well even after coming off the broken hand as he rushed for 100 yards again. Newton played what might have been the worst game I’ve ever seen him play. He was missing receivers all night and never seemed to get into the flow of things. The only good thing about Cam’s night was the cleats he wore pregame.
The Saints were rolling despite an interception and fumble by Drew Brees. The win solidifies my belief that the Saints are going to end up running away with the NFC South.
Game MVP – Mark Ingram

It’s finally been decided. The San Fransisco Giants defeated the Kansas City Royals in game 7, taking home the trophy for the third time in 5 years. Both being Wild Card teams, the series was full of motivated ball players who knew their role, and executed when it mattered. From timely hitting, to sacrifice bunts, to stolen bases, both teams proved through the playoffs that they deserved to be there.
The Giants had one thing that the Royals didn’t, and that was Madison Bumgarner, the 2014 World Series MVP. Coming in relief in the fifth inning, he threw a 2 hit ‘save’, that’s right, in the FIFTH inning. The Giants won 3-2, and he was the reason why. Hunter Pence also stood out, batting .444 in this series, leading them to a title with a key hit later in the game to start a rally and score that go ahead run. But back to Bum. On two days rest, he was able to come in and tune out the loud crowd, and still do his thing even with a title on the line. A true legend. Congrats to Madison and the San Fran Giants, and also to the Royals, who gained a lot of respect this year, A LOT.
Another year in the books, and it was a wild one. Boston going from best to worst, the Yanks sucking and losing their 20 year shortstop in Jeter, Kershaw looking like a stud, again, and having the Orioles and Royals play in the ALCS, when 5 years ago no one would say that, I look forward to next season already.
